How Traverse Builds Its Fitness Programming

Walk into any Traverse class and the workout in front of you isn't pulled from a hat. It's one piece of a much larger plan that our coaches have programmed weeks in advance to make sure your strength, conditioning, and recovery are all moving in the same direction. That plan has a name: Build, Grit, and Performance. They're the three pillars our entire class schedule rotates through, and they're the reason members hit goals they used to think were out of reach.

What is Fitness Programming, Really?

Fitness programming is the strategic design of exercise routines that help you reach specific goals. A good program addresses every component of fitness including endurance, strength, agility, flexibility, and body composition. Then, it arranges them into a deliberate plan instead of a pile of random workouts.

Think of it as a roadmap for your physical development. At Traverse, our expert coaches build a balanced schedule that mixes the right exercises, intensity levels, and recovery periods to align with our methodology. Members who want a fully customized plan can take it a step further with one-on-one work in our personal training program.

Random workouts can get you sweaty. Programmed workouts get you results.

Three Pillars, One Rotation

We organize our weekly class schedule around a three-day rotation that hits every major adaptation a well-rounded athlete needs. Each pillar has its own purpose, its own pace, and its own payoff.

Build — Forge your foundation

Build is where we develop muscular connection and capacity by improving foundational strength. The primary goal is straightforward: increase your ability to lift, push, or pull heavier loads through resistance training. If you're new to lifting, this is where confidence under the bar gets built. If you're experienced, it's where you stop spinning your wheels and start adding real weights.

Grit — Push your boundaries

Grit is the day that humbles people in the best way. It emphasizes muscular endurance and mental toughness, challenging your ability to sustain effort under fatigue while improving conditioning to prepare for greater physical demands. Expect tempo work, longer intervals, and the kind of sustained output that teaches your body what it can actually handle. Spoiler: it's more than you think.

Performance — It's showtime

Performance classes take everything you've learned from the other two formats and put it to work. We prioritize optimizing your athletic ability through power, speed, and precision, with one primary goal: increasing explosiveness and movement efficiency. This is where the work pays off. Heavier lifts move faster. Sprints feel sharper. Stations chain together with less wasted motion.

Why this Approach Works

A few reasons our members stick with it long after their free trial:

  • Fitness for everyone. A wide range of training options helps members improve regardless of goals or experience level.
  • World-class studios. Class programming is designed to take advantage of the industry's best equipment and training environments. The gear changes how the workout feels and how fast you progress.
  • A new class every day. Our coaches approach each session with creativity, so workouts stay enjoyable while still pushing you to your limits.

The result is a schedule that prevents plateaus, prevents burnout, and prevents the dreaded "I've been working out for months and nothing is changing" feeling.

Ready to See it in Action?

The fastest way to understand the Build, Grit, and Performance rotation is to step into a class and feel it for yourself. Our two-class trial is the lowest-stakes way to start, and your Coach will help you choose the two sessions that make the most sense for where you are right now.
